Drone Regulations

Filming by drone in Hokkaido can be achieved so long as the drone being flown is properly registered with the Ministry of Transportation in Japan (for drones weighing over 249g) through the DIPS system and the proper flight plan notifications are made. Flights made in special restricted areas (above populated areas, flown at night, above 150m from ground level) often require specialized certifications, and more than a month in advance to obtain the proper permits. For official information please refer to the DIPS homepage.

Drone/UAS Information Platform System 2.0

We can work with you to allow you to fly your own drone here in Japan, or we can help connect you to a local pilot who has the skills and certifications necessary to meet the needs of your production.
